Recently, I have begun suffering from bouts of insomnia a few times a month. According to my doctor, it is an expected symptom of my age (grin). Whether the result of hormonal changes, stress and anxiety over my dad's health, or stress, anxiety and FEAR over the talk of a buy-out of Dear Hubby's company...last night I was up for hours on end.
After tossing and turning for a while I settled in my sewing room. I had already checked all of my email, browsed my favorite blogs, and had nothing left to do but SEW! And sew I did. I actually finished most of the Spring mini for my foyer! All that was left to complete this morning was some FMQ and the binding.
I have to say, this mini has shown a huge improvement in both my applique and free motion quilting skills. I am nowhere near "accomplished", but I am sure a lot closer to "proficient" than I was a month ago.
So, here is "SPRING" at my house........
TA-DAH...
I absolutely LOVE this little piece of springtime.
And the colors go really well with the rest of my decor. This was a fun project to work on, and it has been a wonderful learning and practicing piece. Who knows...by the time I get to the quilting part of my aunt's quilt I may actually be COMFORTABLE with free motion quilting, lol.
Toodles...

Nice job. Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
What a precious piece and I know what you mean about insomnia....age and our minds don't seem to shut down. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Connie. I think I am really starting to LIKE FMQ! Maybe it is because I am working on "small pieces" for learning and practicing rather than a full sized quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is just darling my friend - you did a fantastic job and it looks so pretty in your foyer! Your FMQ makes me want to run to my machine - - great job. I too have the "age" related insomnia -- I try to beat it by staying up late, late... ;) Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. Right this minute I am "itching" to get to my machine and FMQ something else. Anything, lol! But, I have to take my dad to the doctor so my "fun" will have to wait.
DeleteLove the little quilt. Sounds like you have enough on your plate to keep you up nights! Hang in there.
DeleteThank you, DW! I am hanging in there, lol.
DeleteYour mini quilt is absolutely gorgeous - you did a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lorna!
DeleteI hope you'll get some good and needed rest.
ReplyDeleteYour mini turned out beautiful, you could not have chosen a better spot for it..
Thank you! I really adore this little mini. It came out exactly as I hoped...a simple design that let's the pretty materials shine through. My dad is much better and his body is recovering from the stress it was under. His blood pressure and blood sugar are back into normal ranges...we are all breathing easier. The future of dear hubby's company is looking worse and worse. Greedy people don't care how many people they put out of work or how many lives they ruin...just as long as their shares are making them rich. This is the second time in our married lives that a company he works for has been destroyed to make shareholders rich. We are leaning on God to get us through.
